Flatbread To the Rescue!
Running out of bread? Not to fear! This super simple and amazingly delicious flatbread requires only a handful of ingredients. Best part? You most likely already have them in your pantry!
I was so thankful my friend Holly shared this on her Facebook page! We had just run out of bread for sandwiches and this super easy alternative didn’t require yeast or the whole rising and punching down. We are kind of spoiled. We are used to eating homebaked bread and this is a great alternative.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 Tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/4 cup lukewarm water
- 1 Tablespoon oil -additional oil needed for pan
- Optional dough add ins- fresh rosemary, dill, chili powder, cracked pepper, dried onion, nutmeg.
Instructions
- Sift flour, baking powder, salt together in bowl. Add in oil and stir. slowly add in warm water while stirring until dough is sticky ~ resembling pizza dough.
- Stir or gently knead for a few minutes.
- Let dough rest for 30 - 60 minutes.
- Divide into 8 equal portions.
- Roll out on floured surface until thin.
- Heat up cast iron skillet of griddle. brush bottom of hot skillet with oil.
- Cook rolled out flatbread until bubbles appear.
- Flip and cook on other side until golden brown. (optional) sprinkle with sea salt
