Thankful for leftovers!
For the last several weeks I have been noticing that Facebook friends have posting things they are thankful as part of a “30 Days of Thankfulness” campaign. I love the idea and have often thought about the differences in being “Happy” and being “Grateful”. Since our family was right in the middle of a crazy move I opted to start my official 30 days right after Thanksgiving, which would end right at Christmas time.
What a great way to stay focused on the true beauty of the season!
My first item of thankfulness is left-overs. While I love making the turkey complete with yummy fixings …one of the best parts about the whole traditional feast is the leftovers.
Turkey sandwiches are the ultimate perk.
So much has happened in the last few months. Our family made a huge move, which involved job changes, moving, and saying good-bye to family and friends. There have been so many blessings at every turn, but, just like thanksgiving dinner, sometimes it is the small things that bring about residual blessings.
Not just finding a great home, but being thankful for the things that make any house a home. Not only looking forward to living in a beautiful area, but being thankful for the people who made where we lived a beautiful place. Not just saying goodbye, but taking the time to thank those who made an impact on our lives and the lives of our kids.
Life is full of big events, but sometimes the small perks resonate deepest within our minds and hearts…
kind of like savoring a turkey sandwich the day after Thanksgiving.
