I had jitters. It was my first day of kindergarten and as my mom snapped a picture at the corner of Wakefield Way with her Kodak Instamatic camera, I was filled with questions. Do I have my snack? Will I make new friends? Will my mom pick me up? What if I have to go to the bathroom? It was a new experience for all of us since I was the oldest. And we survived, even if my peanut butter and jelly sandwich was a bit smooshed by my Looney Tunes Thermos. Fast forward to NOW~ our oldest ... View the Post
Rest, research, lots of laughter…and a slice of plum cake.
A few months ago I signed the book contract with Tyndale for a destination gift book filled with photos, 40 cabin themed devotions, and 12 articles or tutorials on things like "Perfect hot fudge topping for homemade ice-cream" and "How to create a pine-cone wreath". The setting was a beautiful Lakeside cabin, which had been enjoyed by 5 generations and now owned by some of our dearest friends, Bob and Ginger, who had carefully remodeled the family cabin. While I knew I would need to collect ... View the Post
Flatbread To the Rescue!
Running out of bread? Not to fear! This super simple and amazingly delicious flatbread requires only a handful of ingredients. Best part? You most likely already have them in your pantry! I was so thankful my friend Holly shared this on her Facebook page! We had just run out of bread for sandwiches and this super easy alternative didn't require yeast or the whole rising and punching down. We are kind of spoiled. We are used to eating homebaked bread and this is a great ... View the Post

Fall is a time of year when things are being wrapped up for the year and the beginning of the quickly approaching Holiday season. I have Christmas cards ordered, but I am NOT ready to ... Pumpkin Scones Have Arrived. Let Fall Begin!
I love it when the air gets crisp and green foliage is replaced by vibrant hues of yellow, red, and orange. Fall is a time of year when I try new soup recipes and look forward to my favorite ones simmering on the stove. We swap out taco salad for taco soup, well you get the picture! A few years ago I cooked up pumpkin from scratch. Just sayin', once you have crossed over to the homemade side it is hard to go back. I had no idea it was so easy. But, if you are still using canned pumpkin- ... View the Post
Ireland Here We Come!
Check-in. Passport scans. Long flights with little legroom. Over 2.5 miles of walking from one terminal to another. But, we finally arrived in Ireland! After checking into our quaint room, and enjoying a hot dinner, we were ready to collapse! It was hard to remember what day it was. With 8 hour difference, our clocks were a wee bit off. So far I have loved hearing all the accents and extreme politeness. "Thanks a million! Perfect. Thank you so much. Have a lovely time." I will be ... View the Post
