Ohh how Sweet and Sour it is!

Once in a while I make homemade egg rolls.  The deep fried wonton wrappers are crisp and the ingredients are fresh. It is a lot of chopping, dicing and assembling, but so worth it!
To top it off I make an amazing sweet and sour sauce. Perfect for egg rolls, meatballs, and broccoli beef.  Seriously..this sauce is so good you might want to lick your plate…twice!

wpid-imag1606.jpg   Sweet and Sour Sauce

  1/3 cup sugar

   3 Tbl. cornstarch

  1 Tbl. soy sauce

 2 Tbl. catsup

   5 Tbl. balsamic vinegar

  6 Tbl. water

  1 cup pineapple juice

1/2 cup pineapple tidbits

Mix and cook until thick. Simmer until heated through.

Enjoy!

Several years ago we made a full Chinese meal and decided to turn it into a fun Chinese dinner theater complete with Charlie Chan movies. We made a low table on the floor out of an old door and 4×4 blocks. The kitchen smelled great long after the dinner was over and the dishes done.

It was a dinner that we fondly recall every time I make egg rolls.

From the day we said “I do”, it has been quite an adventure.  One of the biggest things people notice about our family is the size. Yes, there are six kids, proof that  God has a sense of humor. I tell people that ask if we are done with six. “No” I promptly reply. “We were done at four! But the last two were too cute to send back.” Read More
