Lakeside Retreat and Salted Caramel Sauce Recipe

Big News!  I have a new book coming out in June but it is already up on Amazon for pre-orders, just click the picture in the sidebar or visit Amazon here. Last weekend I went to a local coffee/gift shop here in Gallatin, TN, and handed out a Lakeside Retreat-inspired recipe for Gingerbread Cake. Seriously, the recipe is so good, I already made another cast iron skillet of the yummy cake. Actually, we also ate it for breakfast it was irresistible. But the key to this cake's ... View the Post

PLAY-DOH ~ I’ll supply the recipe…you bring the fun~

When I saw that September 16 was Nationa Play-Doh day I knew I had to post this recipe. But, when our kids were growing up, every day was Play-Doh day:~D It is nice to see the simple play-doh, invented in 1956 is still popular. And after selling almost 700 million pounds, their sales are still going strong. A few weeks ago my three-year-old grandson was over. It was a rainy day so playing outside wasn't an option. "I can make some Play-doh!" I pulled out the simple ingredients ... View the Post

Down the Wendell Road

It had been over twenty years since we drove down the country road at the edge of town. Rows of corn at full height and tasseled out followed the gentle slopes. Red barns flanked by large silos were surrounded by thick groves of hardwood trees, the perfect shelter against the harsh Midwest storms that blew in as fast as they blew out. We were going to see the hobby farm we had lived on when my husband and I moved our small family from CA to Fergus Falls, MN over 30 years earlier. After two ... View the Post

Farm Fresh Lessons From Jam Peaches

As soon as I walked toward the pop-up tent at the edge of the Lowe's parking lot I could smell them. Peaches. Farm fresh and tree sweetened. "Do you have any jam peaches?" I asked the older gentleman who had introduced himself as Grover McMurry. "These look like perfect peaches for a pie, but what I really love is making jam." I handed him my money and selected a bag that sat on the folding table. "Well darlin'," he said with a smile, "I will make sure to cull out any seconds next ... View the Post

Old Barns of Tennessee

Ten weeks ago we left California and headed to our new home in Tennessee to start a new chapter in our lives. This is my first post since we moved. To be honest-it was exhilarating and terrifying at the same time. We loaded up our belongings, said good-bye to family and friends, and started the three-day drive from the California coastline to the rolling hills of Middle Tennessee. John had a job waiting for him the day after we arrived and we stayed with friends while waiting for ... View the Post

The Lasts

Part of our moving to TN is saying goodbye to people we love and places where memories were made. Sitting by the beach and watching the sunset, being Mary Poppins to the families I worked for, learning to use a potter's wheel are a few of the things we will miss from our SoCal location. Mostly we will miss being in the same state as some of our kids and grandcuties. That is a topic for another blog post :~D Today marks a biggie. Today is John's LAST day working for Western Concrete ... View the Post

welcome It is hard to talk about me, without talking about us!    The Seither Family.  John and I have been married for over twenty five years. From the day we said “I do”, it has been quite an adventure.  One of the biggest things people notice about our family is the size. Yes, there are six kids, proof that  God has a sense of humor. I tell people that ask if we are done with six. “No” I promptly reply. “We were done at four! But the last two were too cute to send back.” Read More
