Piano Moving Day – Empty Nesting 101

The first rays of sunlight barely touched the treetops at the end of our driveway. I poured myself a second cup of coffee and paced near the big window facing the road. I was the one who scheduled the movers to come, I just hadn’t expected to be their first stop of the day. They arrived right on time. Within 20 minutes, the baby grand piano in our living room was carefully tipped onto its side.  Long bolts attaching the wooden legs to the frame were unscrewed. At the count of three, two ... Shattered From The Inside Out

The Christmas Fudge was perfect, the tree decorated, cookies baked, and we were full of expectation for a wonderful time together. All six of our children were coming home for Christmas, along with spouses and our two grandbabies. We couldn’t wait. I was making dinner when my husband John went out to get the mail, returning with assorted Christmas cards, fliers for local businesses, and a letter from our youngest daughter. “Dear Mom and Dad,” he began, after opening the small white envelope. ... MOMS- Believe it or not, your teen still needs you.

"C’mon Jack,” Amy grabbed her keys and backpack. “We are going to be late.” My 5’10” freshman, Jack, emerged from his room still in his PJ’s. His tousled mop of hair looked as if he had just walked backwards through a wind tunnel. “Just go without him,” I took a drink of hot coffee and finished writing out my long'To-Do" list. “I'll take him to school.” Jack meandered into the kitchen, sat at the counter and poured himself a bowl of Mini-Wheats. I wanted to scold him for not being ... View the Post

What can you get for 5 bucks?

This morning I took Scott to the Auburn Airport, where he has been doing whatever needs to be done in exchange for flying time. "Do you think we can leave a little bit early this morning?" he asked before we left the little cabin on Lake Alta, where we are staying. "Why?" I responded. "Are you flying early this morning?" "No," he replied. "A lot of people are at the airport on Monday mornings, so I was wondering if we could pick up a dozen doughnuts and take them into the office?" I ... View the Post

Simply Citrus

There is something so refreshing about the smell of citrus. I have had a special fondness for limes since my trip to Belize a few years ago. My friend Margaret always put a squeeze of lime in her drinking water, so I did the same and have often picked up a bag of limes to have on hand since then. I love the way my fingers smell after the transparent spray of citrus goodness explodes under gentle pressure. It doesn't take much...just a slice...just a squeeze... a gentle mist, to make a ... welcome It is hard to talk about me, without talking about us!    The Seither Family.  John and I have been married for over twenty five years. From the day we said “I do”, it has been quite an adventure.  One of the biggest things people notice about our family is the size. Yes, there are six kids, proof that  God has a sense of humor. I tell people that ask if we are done with six. “No” I promptly reply. “We were done at four! But the last two were too cute to send back.” Read More
